An Australian couple instantly regretted opening a washed-up message in a bottle as soon as they read the letter inside.
Crystal and Rick took to TikTok with the shocking video which has recently resurfaced.
As the pair were walking the beach with their dog, they came upon a bottle near the shore.
‘We’ve seen a bottle here, washed up. Looks like it’s got a message in it,’ Rick said as he grabbed it from the water.
He handed it to Crystal who untwisted the lid and tried to retrieve the message inside.
However, they couldn’t reach it so Rick began to pour the sand-like contents out onto the ground.
‘Here lies,’ Crystal began to read as she quickly realized the contents were human ashes, leaving them stunned.
‘Here lies the ashes of Geoffrey. If found please throw [the] bottle into outgoing tide so I can continue my journey,’ the message read.

The text over the video read: ‘Oops, sorry Geoff’ referring to the remains inside.
Rick wrote in the caption that the bottle was ‘not a setup’ and pouring out Geoff onto the sand was a ‘total accident.’
Other TikTok users were just as shocked by their findings and joked about the surprising turn of events.
One person wrote: ‘Just put some sand back in there. And chuck it back in.
‘No one will ever know.’
Rick responded to the user writing: ‘That’s exactly what I did. Tried to get all of him back in there. Felt bad bro.’
‘Looks like his journey has ended twice,’ someone commented.
