While air fryers have been the star of kitchens everywhere, some people are now swapping them out for something else entirely.
It seems like just about everyone is raving about air fryers these days, but it looks like some folks are starting to trade theirs in for another option.
A lot of kitchen gadgets come and go, often just trendy for a while before they’re replaced by the next new thing.
Think about it—how many of those older gadgets from years back are still around today? It’s just how these trends go.
But on a more serious note, the air fryer may soon be challenged by another appliance that people say is cheaper and works just as well.
The air fryer became incredibly popular because it promised to cook food faster than an oven and healthier than traditional frying.
Leaving aside the fact that if you’re indulging in something not-so-healthy, you might as well enjoy it, the devices gained a lot of popularity quickly.

They were also touted as being a cheaper way to cook than using a full-sized oven.
But now, it seems there’s some competition for the air fryer’s throne, thanks to a new contender in the form of the Halogen Oven.
This appliance uses a halogen lightbulb to heat food in a glass bowl below, making it an interesting alternative.
It’s almost like you can picture someone getting burned by a hot halogen bulb and suddenly thinking, ‘Wait, maybe I could use this to cook food,’ as they hurried to cool their hand.
The device is typically designed with an outer basket to keep you safe from burns, and then there’s the glass bowl.
At the top sits the halogen bulb, which heats up to cook the food below.
The bulb might even flash on and off to keep the temperature steady at the set level.

Some models can go from as low as 60°C up to about 240°C, or from 140°F to 464°F.
These devices are being promoted as a budget-friendly alternative to air fryers.
While air fryers have become a go-to choice, the more advanced models can start to get expensive, which can make them seem less of a budget buy.
Many users have now voiced their support for halogen ovens as the superior choice.
One user shared: “I treated myself to a halogen oven to help with Christmas; I only have one shelf in my oven.
“It is one million times better than the rubbish air fryer I got in the summer.”
Another user agreed, adding: “Halogen oven is better, healthier and cheaper than air fryer.”
Of course, there’s always the option of sticking to the oven that came with your kitchen if you prefer a tried and true method.
